- How can I get my mom to stop smoking?
Let your mom know that you’re worried about her health and try giving
your mom the number for the Peel Health Quit Smoking Program at Health Line Peel (905) 799-7700 a public health nurse can help her. It can’t hurt to try!
- Will quitting smoking make me gain weight?
Actually smoking adds extra fat around the stomach so as long as you exercise and eat right while you’re quitting you will look and feel better.

- Is it true that there are more than 4000 chemicals in a cigarette?
Yes, it’s true. To make matters worse, 50 of those chemicals are known to cause cancer! Here’s a breakdown of some of the chemicals found in a cigarette:
- Hydrogen Cyanide - Gas chamber poison in World War II
- Acetone- Nail polish remover
- Ammonium - Floor/Toilet Cleaner
- Nicotine - Insecticide/addictive drug
- Arsenic - Poison
